Handling Family Drama

Handling Family Drama | October 17, 2025

No family has it all together, and no close relationship is without its share of disappointments. Take the life of David and his family, for example. Their drama could easily be a series on the Lifetime Network. Through a series of poor choices, David invited chaos into his family. Things deteriorated to the point where his son led what seemed to be a successful rebellion against him. Many of his former friends and associates turned their backs on him and allied with those who caused him trouble. Dealing with conflict is challenging, especially when family is involved; the pain and stress can be even greater because these hurts run the deepest.
Although David's personal and parenting decisions fell short at times, he remained steadfast in seeking God for help as defined in Psalm 3. His actions in this Psalm serve as a strategy for the problems we may have, especially if they involve family drama.

Allow the wisdom, prayers, and guidance of Psalm 3 to support you whenever you encounter relational conflict.
“Lord, how many are my foes!
    How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
    “God will not deliver him.”
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
    my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
    and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
    I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
    assail me on every side.
7 Arise, Lord!
    Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
    break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
    May your blessing be on your people.”

Amen
